Texas A&M University - Kingsville
(formerly Texas A&I University), is located approximately 40
miles southwest of Corpus Christi, Texas. The University was
founded in 1925 and on September 1, 1989, became part of the
Texas A&M University System. The university's name was changed
to Texas A&M University - Kingsville on September 1, 1993.
The enrollment of the university is approximately 6,000
students, with more than 60% being of Hispanic origin. This
classifies the university as a Minority Serving Institution.
Presently, the enrollment in the College of Engineering is over
1,000 students. Texas A&M University - Kingsville is one of the
country's largest producers of Hispanic engineering graduates
and the one of the premier Hispanic serving institutions
offering advanced degrees at bachelor, master and doctorate
levels.
College of Engineering was put on Texas A&M University -
Kingsville map by the efforts of Dr. Frank H. Dotterweich known
as "Doc" to everyone. The college has been named after him to
celebrate the memory of this fine man.
The College of Engineering offers EAC/ABET accredited bachelor
of science degrees and master of science degrees in Civil,
Mechanical, Electrical & Chemical and a NAIT accredited bachelor
of science degree in Industrial Technology. The College also
offers bachelor of science and master of science degrees in
Computer Science, master of science degree in Industrial and
Natural Gas Engineering and a Ph.D. in Environmental
Engineering.
